Trains cancelled for 27 days due to NR's repair work

KANPUR: The train movemmet has been blocked on the route between Shuklaganj Ganga bridge and Kanpur Central for 27 days because of repair work, leading to cancellation of many trains.
The NR will carry out repair and maintenance work on the down line of bridge before Kanpur Central Railway Station. According to railway officials, as many as 34 trains will be remained cancelled from Friday to December 7.
Gomti Express, Lucknow-Agra Intercity, Gorakhpur Yashwantpur Express, Jan Sadharan Express, Lucknow Chennai Express, Ahmedabad-Gorakhpur Express will remain cancelled till December 7.
Similarly, passenger trains including Lucknow-Jhansi, Kanpur-Prayaag, Lucknow-Farrukhabad will remain cancelled. The MEMU-local train service between Barabanki-Lucknow-Kanpur will short terminate and originate from Unnao Railway Station, said the official. The Pune-Lucknow Express will terminate and originate from Kanpur railway station, while several other prominent trains including Kushinagar Express, Barauni Express, Kota-Patna Express, Gorakhpur-Okhla Express, Lucknow-Ahmedabad Express and others will run on diverted routes.
"The list of cancelled, short-terminated and route diverted trains has been put up on the notice board," said officials.
Passengers are facing many problems because of the cancellations. Imran Khan, a resident of Lucknow, said, "I reached the station in afternoon to board a train for Lucknow, but there was no passenger train. Now, I have to board a bus." Ashok Chaturvedi, a resident of Shuklaganj, said, "I boarded a passenger train from Lucknow for Kanpur, but the train has been terminated at Unnao. I then boarded a bus for Shuklaganj."
