CHANDIGARH: Senior leaders of several khap panchayats would be meeting at Chandigarh on November 16 to discuss their strategy over the SYL canal issue. They, however, want to wait for the next move of Punjab and the Union government before taking any decision over the issue. Spokesperson of Rastriya Sarv Jat Khap Panchayat Sube Singh Samain told TOI on Friday that the khap leaders would be in Chandigarh on Wednesday in connection with the hearing of a case related to Jat reservation in the Punjab and Haryana high court.
"Then we will sit and discuss the issue," Samain added. Malik khap president Baljeet Singh said that they had not taken any initiative over the issue as of now. "The leaders of Punjab should not oppose completion of SYL. Haryana is younger brother of Punjab," said Malik. Another khap leader Om Prakash Dhankar said that now the central government should ensure of completion of SYL.
