KHYBER AGENCY - Customs officials on Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle mobile phone batteries from Afghanistan to Pakistan at Torkham border.
Customs superintendent at Torkham centre Naeem Khan revealed that customs officials on duty at the border stopped an Afghanistan returned tailor (KBL-7697) for routine checking. During search of the trailer, they found foreign made 9,900 mobile phone batteries which were concealed in different cavities of the vehicle.
The official told that the seizure commodities and the truck was took into legal custody and shifted to customs house for investigation.
It is important to mention that, last week, Torkham customs centre also foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of fertilizer to Afghanistan.
