Three persons were killed on the spot and six others injuries in a road mishap which occurred on National Highway 50 near Muttagi Cross in the wee hours of Friday.

VIJAYAPURA: Three persons were killed on the spot and six others injuries in a road mishap which occurred on National Highway 50 near Muttagi Cross in the wee hours of Friday.
Superintendent of police S N Sidramappa said the decased Suresh Venkatarao Edake, 50, Sanjay Naganath Kakade, 40, and Shivaji Chandrakant Nikenavare, 35, all hail from Rayagavan village in Kalam taluk of Usmanabad district of Maharashtra.
The accident occurred when the pickup van collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction and was heading to Almatti from Vijayapura.
The dead and injured were travelling towards Ramnagar town to sell their sericulture crop. These farmers regularly go to Ramnagar to sell their crop as they get a good price in that region, said a relative.
Basavana Bagewadi police booked a case.
4 injured in car-lorry collision
Davanagere: Four persons were injured when the car in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding lorry under Hiriyur rural police station limits of Chitradurga district on Friday morning. The injured are Suresh Kumar, Halesh, Ravi and Bheemanna, residents of Bengaluru. The car driver who was coming from Bengaluru to Hiriyur was allegedly driving rashly and hit the divider before being hit by a speeding lorry coming in the opposite direction. The mishap occurred near KR Halli gate in Hiriyur taluk. All the injured have been shifted to the Hiriyur taluk government hospital and they are out of danger, police said.
