The GPO had opened four extension counters at four different venues for the staff of the respective department – Commissioner Office, Central Building, Sassoon Hospital and Council Hall. On Thursday, many smaller post offices denied customers for exchange due to unavailability of cash, which included post offices of Shivajinagar, Dhawade Wasti, Moshi, Indraninagar, Mashulkar Colony and NIBM.
DS Bankar, the postmaster of Shivajinagar Post Office, said that unlike Thursday, enough cash was available for the customers on Friday, “Yesterday we couldn’t exchange cash due to unavailability. Once, the cash reached us by evening, we could provide a smooth service on Friday”
