Speaking at an event to mark the start of an international conference of jurists, former Croatian president Stjepan Mesic said the “Americans have chosen a President who we don’t know how he will act”. His views were echoed by Justice Vincent De Gaetano of the EU Court of Human Rights, who said his “assistant” had told him that the recent Brexit and Donald Trump’s victory were “predicted in a world where ignorance prevails and hatred fuels the world”.

The two were speaking at a press meet ahead of the 17th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World, scheduled to be held at Lucknow from November 12-15.

Former Sudanese President Abdel Rahman M Hassan Swar Elzahab said the conference, on the issue of International law and protection of children, would “have a great impact on world peace.”
