RAWALPINDI: Banni Police registered a criminal case late on Wednesday night against a doctor and his staff for illegally removing the kidney of a woman.

The police registered a case on the complaint of Abdul Wahab, son of Fahmida Bibi, whose left kidney was allegedly removed by a doctor and his staff at a private institution on Saidpur Road without seeking due prior consent of her family.

According to the complainant, Wahab had taken his 45-year-old mother to the clinic on November 3 for treatment of her kidney stones, which the doctor removed after an operation. However, doctors wheeled her into the operation theatre for a second time apparently to stop bleeding.

After the second operation, the doctor told Fahmida’s family that they had removed her left kidney as it was in bad condition.

The complainant alleged the doctor and his staff removed the kidney without the family’s consent or permission. Following the incident, the relatives of Fahmida protested outside the Banni police station.
