Bal Katha Manchan 2 concludes with Akbar Birbal ki kahaniyan
CHANDIGARH: The four day children Theatre festival, Bal Katha Manchan, concluded with the play Akbar Birbal Ki Kahani on Thursday at Punjab Kala Bhawan in sector 16 Chandigarh. Being organized by Mask Theatre with the support of Ministry of Culture New Delhi, the festival will see staging on one play every day by the students of different schools. The play on Thursday was staged by students of an evening school-Education First- in sector 25.
The school is run for underprivileged Children.
The play was prepared during a one month long workshop organized in the school by the director Ravinder Kumar and assistant Director Deepak Kumar. The story revolved around the folk tales of Akbar Birbal and gave the message that Any problem can be solved with patience and intelligence. One should not get impatient and take decisions in a hurry. The Play was well presented by the students.
It was in association with Ministry of Culture Delhi that Mask Theatre has been organizing Bal Katha Manchan, a children theatre festival, to familiarize children with theatre. “For the same we conduct a month long workshop with students in different schools. During the workshop students are taught basics of theatre and in the end a play is prepared. The workshops then conclude with staging of all the plays during the Bal Katha Manchan,” said Vijay Kumar, Co-founder Mask theatre.
The festival was started by Mask Theatre in the year 2014 with the support of Ministry of Culture, New Delhi. This is the second Bal Katha Manchan Festival. The stories staged during the festival are folklores to bring students closer to folk tales. “This year four plays were staged out of which three were by students of private renowned schools- Sky World School in Panchkula, Hansraj Public School in Panchkula and Harryson Model School Mohali- and one evening school-Education First- run in sector 25 for underprivileged Children,” said Ravinder Kumar, co-founder Mask Theatre. The plays staged include Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja on November 7, Sachhai ki Jeet on November 8, Raja Phanne Khan on November 9 and Akbar Birbal ki Kahani, respectively. All the Plays will be staged in Punjab Kala Bhawan in Sector 16 Chandigarh.
