Karnataka CM launches allotment of site numbers

Siddaramaiah said. 2,174 sites have been allotted to land losers towards compensation.

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that allotment letters to the shortlisted beneficiaries of Nadaprabhuu Kempegowda Layout will be issued in January and applications for another 5,000 sites will be invited in December.

Inaugurating the computer randomisation facility to provide site numbers to the allottees at his home office ‘Krishna’ on Wednesday, he said that 5,000 allottees have been shortlisted and they can start construction after receiving allotment letters. Site number allotments will be made in a transparent manner through computer randomisation, he said.

The BDA had acquired 4,043.27 acres of land in 2008 to form the layout and final notification was issued on February 18, 2010. As many as 21,000 sites have been proposed to be formed and Rs 2,408 crore has been spent for the layout formation.

The BDA had invited applications for 5,000 sites in the first phase and 31,341 applied, Mr Siddaramaiah said. 2,174 sites have been allotted to land losers towards compensation. For every acre acquired, the land loser has been given 9,583 sqft of developed land.

For farmers who lost one to three acres of land, the compensation has been paid through 50 per cent cash and 50 per cent developed land. Those losing land between three to five acres have got developed land in the ration of 40:60.

Around 15,000 sites with 20x30 sqft dimension have been formed and preference has been give to economically weaker sections. Of the 4,043 acres acquired for the layout, 500 acres have been earmarked for vertical growth and 430 acres will be utilised for providing civic amenities. The money earned from the layout will be utilised for the construction of steel bridge.
