Traffic jawan hurt trying to stop auto driver
Surat: A traffic brigade jawan and an auto-rickshaw driver suffered minor injuries when the jawan tried to stop the rickshaw driver from escaping at Palanpur Jakatnaka on Wednesday.
Gurucharan Dhanvani, the auto driver, was booked for alleged rash driving and causing hurt to others. Dhanvani was driving an auto-rickshaw near Palanpur Jakatnaka when traffic cops instructed him to clear road as he was obstructing traffic but he did not cooperate.
Traffic brigade jawan Mohommad Asif Nabi Ansari, a resident of Limbayat, asked Dhanvani to take the rickshaw on the roadside.
Instead of stopping, Dhanvani drove the rickshaw in speed to escape while Asnari was holding on it. Ansari hung on to the rickshaw, as a result Dhanvani lost control over the vehicle and hit the road divider.
Both Dhanvani and Ansari suffered injury, and were taken to hospital for treatment. They both are out of danger. Police have yet to arrest Dhanvani, who is under treatment.
