Tom Brady told reporters at his Wednesday press conference that his wife Gisele Bundchen told him not to talk about politics anymore. Brady has danced around President-Elect Donald Trump’s candidacy since he was spotted with a Make America Great Again hat in his locker last year. On Monday, at a rally in New Hampshire, Trump said that Brady had privately endorsed him. Bundchen then denied that the family was supporting Trump in a comment on Instagram.

Hours after Trump won the election early on Wednesday morning, Brady took to his QB press conference podium. A reporter asked Brady why he gave Trump permission to talk about his “political preferences” at that rally in front of a national audience.

Brady responded with, “So you’re assuming I gave him permission?”

“Did you not give him permission to talk about your political preferences?” the reporter followed up.

“I’m just going to talk about football this week,” Brady said. He said Bundchen told him not to talk about politics anymore, which was a choice they made “for their family.”

“I think that’s a good decision,” Brady said. He also said he just wanted to focus on Seattle, and that people aren’t entitled to what his conversations are with “friends of mine or people I may speak with.”

Coach Bill Belichick, when asked about the letter he wrote to Trump, only gave “Seattle” as an answer. Which is neither an answer nor a complete sentence. He did expand on his thoughts later, though, saying this:

“I think anybody that spends more than five minutes with me knows I’m not a political person. My comments are not politically motivated, but out of friendship and loyalty to Donald.”
