On the following day of the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes by the Centre, the cops found a heap of burnt remains of the notes at a place in Bareilly on Wednesday. All the notes were reportedly cut into pieces before turning into ashes, they said.

Some workers of a company brought the burnt remains in sacks and then dumped it on Parsa Kheda road at CB Ganj in Bareilly, according to sources. Getting the information, police officials reached the site. They said prima facie that the remnants are currency notes and appeared to have been cut, damaged and then burnt.

The police have taken the remains in their possession and officials of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have been informed of the incident.
