Rs 500 & Rs 1000 currency notes banned: Arjun Kapoor questions Narendra Modi's move!

Narendra Modi does it and does it in a way absolutely unimaginable! The entire country was in for a surprise last night when Prime Minister announced that the current or bills of Rs 500 and Rs 1000  will be made illegal starting midnight. In a sudden address to the nation, Modi has announced that starting last night, existing Rs 1,000 as well as Rs 500 currency note (bill) will no longer be seen in circulations or transactions.

“Your money will remain yours…you need have no worry on this account,” PM Modi said, highlighting the fact that the new notes will be in limited supply at first and they will then be increased gradually. The man clearly wants to curb rampant corruption that has completely deteriorated our bureaucracy and life in general in this country. From social media to WhatsApp  and from Twitter to Facebook people frantically shared  jokes and memes about the same. Celebrities from Bollywood, cricket, politics and literature hailed Narendra Modi’s move to ease out black money from the hands of the corrupt. But some people criticised Modi for it, although these are few and far between.

While most Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar and Anushka Sharma went on to praise the move. There are some who did not find any logic in the step taken by Modi government. Actor Arjun Kapoor differed with his opinion on this issue. He took to Twitter to share his sentiments. “The timing of the PM is interesting but the question is what will the government provide back to its fair & honest citizens after all this ? Reducing black money is much needed but eventually we need better infrastructure & way more inroads in other aspects not only money matters. Hoping we can all work in harmony to see out this change & it pays dividends to each & every citizen in the future. No more #BlackMoney !!!

While we agree with Arjun’s views in parts, what has left us absolutely baffled is the fact that Black Money stacking up in abroad is also a major concern and the centre government is doing everything in its capacity to curb the problem. While we understand that the public were in a state of confusion and panic after the announcements were made this move is a surgical operation of sorts as far money stashed away abroad is concerned. Most people including the celebrities hailed the PM’s move as a welcome move and they even tweeted to appreciate the efforts made.
