JAMMU, Nov 8: District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu is celebrating 548th Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji on November 14 and a grand function in this connection is being held at Chand Nagar Gurdwara, Lower Gumat here the same day.
Addressing press conference here today, DGPC general secretary Avtar Singh Khalsa said that in connection with the celebrations, which is the annual feature, a grand Nagar Kirtan will be taken out from Chand Nagar Gurdwara on November 12 in which a large number of people of Sikh community from different areas of Jammu and Samba districts will participate. It will commence at 10 am from the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji ( Chand Nagar).
Noted head priests and preachers ljke Bhai Sandeep Singh from Amritsar, Bhai Vishal Singh from Jallandhar and Bhai Balbir Singh Bal from Morinda, Kavi Bhai Rajinder Singh Josh of Sangroor and Bhai Bhupinder Singh from Hoshiarpur will participate in the programme.
Cautioning the general public, the DGPC general secretary said that Nagar Kirtan will start from the Gurdwara Chand Nagar near Jewel Chowk at 10 am and route this time will be from Gurdwara to Vivekanand Chowk , Gulab Singh Marg, Hotel Fortune Rivera Inn, Dogra Chowk, Tawi Bridge, DPL, Asia Crossing, Green Belt Chowk, Gole Market Gandhinagar, Balmiki Chowk, Shivaji Chowk and Guru Nanak Nagar. It will culminate at Nanak Nagar Gurdwara at around 5 pm. He regretted the inconvenience to the public. He also said students of various schools will also participate in the programme. Mr Singh appealed to the Sikh Sangat to participate in large number in the Nagar Kirtan and main function on November 14.
DGPC members Jagjit Singh-president, Kuldip Singh, Mohinder Singh and Manmohan Singh were also present.
