2 cops ask drunk youths dancing on street to stop loud music, beaten up
KALYAN: Two constables were allegedly assaulted by four drunk youths in Dombivli on Sunday night.
The incident took place at an isolated street near Navnit Nagar area in Dombivli, where the youths—Kiran Gaikwad, Abhishek Trivedi, Omkar Gunjal and Sameer Gaikwad—had parked their car, put on music in full volume and were dancing.
On spotting the youths, the constables—Ramasaru Gajbhare and Sonawane, who were patrolling the area, asked them to switch off the music.
Angry at being told to switch off the music, the drunken youths thrashed the two cops.
The Manpada police have registered a case against the four youths. Three of them, Kiran, Abhishek and Omkar have been arrested while hunt is on for Sameer. All the four accused are residents Desale village.
“I found that the youths were drunk and were playing music at high volume, I ask them to switch it off and go home. But one of them, Kiran, got into a scuffle with me, saying he knows all rules and regulations. He also claimed to have contacts with senior officials and said that he could get me transferred,” said Gajbhare.
“When I persisted and asked them to stop dancing and go home, they began abusing him and then manhandled me and my colleague,” he added.

The constables then called up the police station, following which other cops reached the spot and nabbed three of the four accused. Sameer managed to fled the spot, said the police.
According to police sources, in the last one month, this is fifth case of assault on police personnel in the Thane Commissionerate.
Last month, during Ganesh immersion, a man had tried to drown a police sub-inspector in a pond.
