Other than BJP, no party will cross 5 seats: Laxmikant Parsekar

MANDREM: There is not a single party, other than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), that can win more than five seats in the 2017 assembly elections, chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar said on Sunday in an aggressive speech on his home turf in Mandrem at BJP’s Vijay Sankalp rally.
“MGP will be in an alliance with BJP in 2017. Attempts are being made to restrict BJP to 17 seats and someone else is aspiring to be chief minsiter.
I appeal to the people to give BJP a clear majority,” Parsekar said.
Claiming that over 5,000 people attended the rally in Pernem, Parsekar said that while AAP volunteers posting banners around Goa appear to be outsiders who cannot even speak Konkani.
The Congress, on the other hand, will have less than five seats after the 2017 elections.
Taking a dig at Ramakant Khalap who recently said that the BJP will finish third in the polls, Parsekar said there will be a crisis in the Congress soon. “The Congress will not be able to save the five fingers of its hand which is their party symbol,” he said.
Union minister for Ayush Shripad Naik said, “Congress has no moral right to talk about development as they have miserably failed in bringing in development. ”
Panchayat and forest and environment minister Rajendra Arlekar said that Mopa farmers received good compensation because of the BJP government. “Otherwise, land losers would have got 11.80 per sq m.”
Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar, deputy chief minister Francis D'Souza, civil supplies minister Dayanand Mandrekar, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha, were present.
