GURUGRAM: Cops arrested two juveniles for killing a 29-year-old man near Guru Dronacharya Metro station. The accused are both 16-years-old and were sent to observation home in Faridabad after they were produced in the court on Sunday.
Naveen Kumar alias Sumit lived in Delhi’s Aaya Nagar area. He had come to Gurugram with the two juvenile friends on Thursday night. However, the minors stabbed him to death following a brawl and fled the scene.
An FIR was registered under section 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) IPC at DLF phase I police station.
Cops formed a team to investigate the matter and on the basis of a tip off, cops arrested the duo from Bristol Chowk at around 3:30pm on Sunday. One of the accused is Gurugram resident, while the second hails from Bihar. During investigations, the accused revealed that they killed Naveen at around 12:30am on Friday. The accused told cops that they wanted to smoke and asked a cigarette vendor near the metro station to give it for free. The vendor refused, at which the accused tried to convince the vendor that they will make the payment later. But by then the vendor had realized that the duo are juvenile and want a freebie so he refused to sell them a cigarette. At this both started threatening the vendor which Naveen disapproved of.
“The deceased asked the duo to leave the man alone who was barely making a living by selling small articles. This offended the juvenile and they started arguing with Naveen as they moved ahead down the road. Meanwhile, during the argument Naveen hurled abuses at the accused,” said ACP Manish Sehgal.
Hearing that, the Gurugram based accused picked up a knife from a parantha stall and stabbed Naveen thrice in his arm and stomach.
The parantha vendor had opened his new stall the same day, and he too ran away leaving behind his brand new stall. But a tea-stall owner told cops that the deceased walked up to his stall while bleeding profusely. But he fell a few meters later. The public informed police and the Naveen was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries an hour later.
