Two colleges get top NAAC grade

PUNE: Anantrao Pawar College and Garware College of Commerce received ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on Saturday.
The final grading for the third cycle was recommended at the eighteenth meeting of the standing committee of NAAC held in Bangalore. Six colleges affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) were graded during the cycle for this year.
The council graded about 53 colleges in the state affiliated to different universities.
NAAC officials visited the colleges for evaluation and grading, on receiving proposals from them.
Among the colleges that proposed for accreditation, 24, 14, and 15 colleges had applied for the first, second and third time respectively, an NAAC statement said. Of these, three colleges received ‘A+’ grade and 12 received 'A' grade.
Sahebrao Shankarrao Dhamdhere Arts and Commerce College and Sinhagad technical education society's Shri Kashibai Navle College of Engineering were granted 'B' grades. The Bhimthadi education society's K G Kataria College was granted a 'C' grade. From Nashik division of SPPU, MVP Samaj's College of Education received an 'A' grade.
