He died at the hospital on Saturday triggering clashes between protesters and security forces after his funeral at the Eidgah area which resulted in injuries to at least 12 persons.

The residents of the area alleged that the teen was “force-fed some poisonous substance by the security forces” which led to his death.

Gul, who represents the Eidgah Assembly constituency, strongly condemned the “barbaric” police action at the boy’s funeral, saying, “This heartless behaviour has become an indelible trademark of the (Chief Minister) Mehbooba Mufti government.”

“There are varying and different accounts and narratives of the circumstances which led to the death of the young boy and it is hence, imperative that the government, through a completely transparent and objective process, conducts an inquiry to bring out the truth.

Festive offer

“Regardless of the cause, the loss suffered by the family is inconsolable and our hearts go out to them. We stand in solidarity with them at this time of mourning and grief,” the statement said.
