TIRUMALA: Pilgrims will get once-in-a-year opportunity to have a glimpse of Lord Ugra Srinivasa Murthy, one of the oldest idols of Lord Sri Venkateswara in fierce form, at Tirumala on the occasion of Kaisika Dwadasi (Mukkoti Dwadasi) on November 11.
This festival is of great significance in Tirumala, since the Panchaloha idol of Lord Ugra Srinivasa is brought out of the sanctum sanctorum only on this day every year.
The deity will be taken out in a procession around the four Mada streets on a golden palanquin flanked by His two consorts, Sridevi and Bhudevi.
The deity will return to the sanctum sanctorum before sunrise.
Hundreds of devotees arrive in Tirumala to witness this annual darshan of Ugra Srinivasa Murthy -- the fierce form of Lord Venkateswara.
According to TTD officials, Kaisika Dwadasi is observed on the 12th day during the waxing phase of moon as per traditional Hindu calendar.
