DHANBAD: Shocked over Friday's incident in which the rebels blew up 'doli shade' and the house of a former Maoist at Madhuban in Giridih, the authorities have adopted a new modus operandi to contain the rebels across the region. Armed forces comprising state police and para-military forces have been deployed into the dense forests and villages along the Parasnath foothills.
"The Maoist attack on Friday was a result of their frustration after they realized that they were losing ground in the region.
Unlike the past, they targeted a government building which was constructed for the doli bearers. As most doli bearers are natives of this place and have been directly or indirectly related to the rebels in the past, the Maoists tried to regain their lost ground by terrorizing the villagers," said Hazaribag DIG Upendra Kumar.
"At a time when the police were regularly interacting with villagers for all-round development, the rebels showed their anger against the villagers by blowing up the shade," said SP A B Variar, adding that the security forces will work on instilling confidence among the rural citizens.
Meanwhile, Madhuban police on Saturday lodged an FIR against 40 to 50 armed activists of the CPI (Maoist), including top leaders, for their involvement in the attack.
