ISL LIVE Score NorthEast United FC vs Mumbai City FC: A goal by Jackichand leads Mumbai to 1-0 victory

Hello and welcome to India.com’s coverage of Indian Super League (ISL) 2016. NorthEast united FC will take on Mumbai City FC at their home ground. This is match no 31 of ISL Season3. Stay tuned as we bring to you the live updates of NorthEast United FC vs Mumbai City FC.

NorthEast will face Mumbai City for the second time in this season as they were defeated by Mumbaikars in their previous meeting courtesy Diego Forlan’s penalty which ended the match with a score of 1-0 which was also a first defeat for NorthEast in this season. Highlanders are currently facing injury crisis and they will head into the match with two back to back defeats. After their prolonged stay at the top of the table, 25 days to be exact, things have been only going downhill for NorthEast United and to an extent the blame could go to the scheduling of the league. A testament to two defeats on the spin will also be accounted for and that too at home but the Highlanders should take advantage of fresher legs against visiting side.

NorthEast manager, Vingada stated “We won 2-0 against Goa but we lost the last (two) games. We created much more chances and got more corners and set-pieces and had more ball possession in the last two matches. We played for a draw with Chennaiyin at least. But these (things) happen in football and the most important thing is the result and the result we look is to win. There is a matter of luck and we must have been unlucky. Mistake of the referees is a part of the game and there have been mistakes from our side as well”.

On the other hand, Mumbai City FC have already surprised everyone and performed better than expected as they collected 12 points and are one goal behind league leaders Delhi Dynamos on the points table. The turnaround has been incredible after disappointing sixth and seventh place finishes in the two earlier seasons. But all their good work could go wasted as Mumbai’s great start of the blocks has been affected by a mid-life crisis precisely in the middle of the campaign and it goes without saying that they will be desperate to win when they face the highlanders. “We had light practice today and then we have the situation of the game tomorrow. We don’t put excuses and we have to play well to get points from here,” said Mumbai FC coach, Guimaraes, ahead of the match.
