GHAZIABAD: A 65-year-old Ayurveda physician who thought he had an incurable disease committed suicide in his house in Ghaziabad's Shastri Nagar.
Ram Kumar Singh Shishodia (65) ran a nursing home on Hapur-Pilkhuwa Road and hung himself from a ceiling fan in the sitting room of his house when his wife was away.
He was discovered in that state by his wife, Geeta, on Friday morning when she returned home from Meerut, where the couple's youngest daughter lives, police said.
In his suicide note, Shishodia said his wife, three daughters and sons-in-law had been taking good care of him. “But I am killing myself because my illnesses do not have a cure,“ the note read. Shishodia's family said he had breathing problems but declined to reveal anything more. Police claimed the family had said he was also diabetic.
Geeta returned home after seeing her youngest daughter off to her in-laws' place in Meerut at 9.30 am on Friday. After repeatedly knocking on the door and ringing the bell, she called her daughter who also lives in Ghaziabad with her husband. They broke open the door. “We were informed around 11am by the deceased's relatives,“ said Ashok Pundir, Shastri Nagar police post in-charge.
