TAC hammer Eastern Region in opener

Lalitpur, November 4

Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club registered victories in the CoAS fourth International Women’s Football Tournament here at the Nepali Army Sports Complex grounds on Friday.

In the opening match of the annual tournament organised by Nepali Army, TAC thrashed Eastern Region 6-0. Krishna Khatri scored four goals alone, while Sharmila Thapa and Deepa Adhikari netted one each for the TAC.

Khatri opened the scoring in the fifth minute and added three in the 13th, 15th and 39th minutes to make it 4-0. Thapa scored in the 48th minute and Adhikari found the back of the nets in the 83rd minute. Khatri of TAC was named the player-of-the-match.

In another match, Nepal Police Club thrashed Mid-western Reion 8-0. Neeru Thapa scored four goals, while Yashodha Lama netted two and Nirmala BK and Amrita Joshi scored one each for the NPC. On Saturday, defending champions Nepal APF Club will take on Western Region, while Central Region will face Far-western Region.

A total of 10 teams one apiece from three departmental sides TAC, NPC and APF, one each from five development regions and two teams from India are taking part in the tournament.

Earlier, Chief of the Army Staff Gen Rajendra Chhetri inaugurated the tournament which is being played under knock out format.
