Natrang director part of Kala Utsav jury

The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has nominated Natrang director Balwant Thakur to the national jury (theatre) of the National Kala Utsav-2016.

The Kala Utsav is being held in the national capital, New Delhi, from November 14 to 18. In this national competition, the best teams will be awarded Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for achieving first, second and third positions respectively.

The award ceremony will be held at Sri Fort Auditorium in which Human Resource Development Minister will honour the best teams in addition to the members of the jury.

Balwant Thakur is one of the three jury members for theatre, who will evaluate the national-level presentations. Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development designed to promote Indian living traditions of arts by bringing together over 2,000 extremely talented students from all 36 states/Union Territories to present Indian culture in the form of dance, music, theatre and visual arts.

Balwant Thakur’s nomination to such a highest national jury is being taken as yet another cultural accomplishment of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He has already brought the culture of the state in the international limelight by his personal efforts, sheer commitment, dedication and devotion of the lifetime.
