Tata Motors Displaces Honda As 4th Largest Carmaker In India — Start Of A New Era?
Based on the sales for the month of October, Tata Motors has posted better results than Honda
Tata Motors has claimed the title of the fourth largest carmaker in India displacing Honda for the month of October 2016.
The homegrown automaker has posted sales of 16311 units with 28 percent growth and the main driver for the surge in ranking is because of its small car, Tiago. This also is contributed to the new approach by Tata Motors.
Honda with a dip in sales of 23 percent fell down to number five, the company sold 15567 units in October 2016 compared to 20166 cars in the same period in 2015.
Tata Motors cumulative sales including its commercial vehicles increased by 15 percent and the company sold 88976 units in total for the month of 2016.
The company's exports grew as well with 39 percent increase which saw Tata Motors ship 6,333 units.
Tata Tiago was launched back in the first week of April 2016 in India and has garnered good sales good response.
The Tiago is powered with the choice of petrol and diesel units. The Revotron petrol engine is a 1.2-litre three cylinder MPFI with Multi Drive it produces 84bhp and 114Nm of torque.
The Revotorq diesel unit is a 1050cc three-cylinder CRAIL with Multi Drive churning out 69bhp and 140Nm of peak torque.
The prices of the petrol Tiago starts at Rs 3.21 lakh, the diesel model starts from Rs 3.95 lakh, both the prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
