UNLV Updates POS Technology with SkyWire in Capstone Cafe
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) November 03, 2016 -- University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ (UNLV) William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration has removed six outdated point of sale terminals in their Capstone Café, a two location restaurant used in the training of hospitality students at UNLV. In its place, SkyWire fitted a cloud based point of sale (POS) into the existing network structure allowing for minimal preparation and ease of transition.
When it came time to update the current point of sale system, "our decision to go with SkyWire was based on three factors: price, location of company, and the integration of a back-of-the-house purchasing software," said executive chef Mark Sandoval. SkyWire is a local company, based out of Las Vegas, that specializes in enterprise technology for the hospitality sector, providing solutions like point of sale, property management system, time and attendance, and spa and activities software.
UNLV’s Harrah Hotel College senior capstone course is designed for students to exercise and apply their management techniques, customer relations, and leadership skills. The course encompasses every aspect of running a restaurant, including strategic planning, front of house and back of house operations, and accounting. The early exposure to the Skywire system gives students an advantage because they are gaining practical experience that is attractive to future employers.
"When it came to the transition and installation of the hardware and software," added college IT expert Trevor Brown, "we could not have asked for a better group of people to work with. The SkyWire implementation team made the transition and the go-live dates seamless by making themselves available onsite to troubleshoot any issues or changes that we may have encountered."
“The UNLV Hospitality program is one of the best in the country and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide them with Point of Sale equipment to give their students the best experience possible. We are looking forward to working and growing alongside the next generation in hospitality technology,” said SkyWire COO, Dennis Montellano.
