Bill Maher: ‘I Hope When We Look Back on This, Trump is Like Y2K’

Bill Maher told an audience in Los Angeles that he is “f–king scared about the election. I feel like I feel when an X-ray result is coming back.”

On Tuesday, Maher performed his #Whinylittlebitch set to Facebook Live in a performance at Largo in Los Angeles, and it was heavy in incredulousness that the presidential race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton has gotten so close.

“I always said this would be a tight race. I have never seen an election quite like this. On one side a hysterical woman, and on the other side Hillary Clinton,” Maher said.

Maher still seemed to think that Clinton would pull it out, and said that “I hope when we look back on this, Trump is like Y2K.” He was referring to all the fear and talk of massive computer outages on New Year’s Day 2000, but the predicted disruptions were overblown.

Much of his routine was devoted to amazement that despite the “red flags,” a Trump presidency is still very much a prospect.

He mocked Republicans who were jumping off the Trump train the weekend after the release of the “Access Hollywood” tape, but then came back to the fold. Maher said he was “incensed” that the country seems to have bought into the idea that Trump’s conversation with Billy Bush was just “locker room talk.”

“It took them a weekend to absorb this, even the responsible Republicans,” he said. “They all got together and decided the GOP stands for ‘Grab our pussies.'”

Maher also said that he interviewed President Obama on Tuesday for “Real Time,” his HBO show. He had launched a campaign earlier this year to have Obama as a guest before his term was finished.
