Real life Baghban: Together for 70 years, social services forced a couple to stay apart
At this stage in their lives, an elderly couple is being forced to spend their life away from each other.
In the times of Tinder, it's always heartwarming to come across stories of old-fashion relationships, with the people involved holding on to each other till their last breath.
One such story is of an elderly British couple, Jessie and Ray Lorrison who have been together for 70 years and are being forced to live separately because of social services.

In an age when your partner can become your best support system, the 95-year-old Mr Lorrison and his 88-year-old wife are not being allowed to live in the same care home by the South Tyneside Council, as reported by The Telegraph. The couple got married in 1950, after being introduced by Ray's elder sister Myra. Today, Mr Lorrison is living at Westoe Grange Care Home while his wife is in the hospital. However, post her treatment, she won't be able to live with her husband in the care home, as she doesn't meet the criteria to join him.
In the same report, their daughter Cheryl talked about her parents' plight, saying, "It is heartbreaking, and so cruel. Why should they be apart after all this time? What gives social services the right to play God? They haven't even got that much time left together. My dad will be lucky if he gets another six months. Every day he says, 'Where is your mam?' He's sitting outside his room in a chair waiting for my mam. He won't go to bed, he's sleeping in the chair. I am desperate for them to be reunited so they can spend the rest of their days together."
She also added, "They were always a happy couple. They were inseparable. The only time they spent apart was when he went to sea with the Merchant Navy."
Her son, Lee bates created an online petition to gauge support for the couple. Their story already has 5000 supporters and hopefully, the decision will soon be overturned in their favour.
