Myanmar introduces special economic zone rules 2 years after law enactment

YANGON, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar introduced Special Economic Zone rules two years after the enactment of the law in 2014.

The rules, issued by the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) , comprise of 22 chapters and 225 articles for investors interested in investing in the country's special economic zones.

The rules cover land use, issuance of permit, types of conductible investment businesses and procedures for establishment, import and export procedures, labor and employment and so on.

At present, the country has three special economic zones, namely Thilawa located in Yangon region, Dawei in Thaninthayi region and Kyaukphyu in Rakhine state.

According to the law and rules, the management committees of respective special economic zones of the country will be responsible for all investment and other cases of the zones, said U Aung Naing Oo, director general of DICA and secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission.
