Unknown armed men gunned down a judge in the eastern Khost province, 150 km southeast of Kabul on Tuesday night, spokesman for provincial government Mohammad Mabariz Zadran said Wednesday.

"Unidentified armed persons sprayed bullets on Ghiasudin Lakanwal, a senior judge in Qalandar district, in outside provincial capital Khost city Tuesday night and killed him on the spot," Zadran told Xinhua.

Without giving more details, the official added that investigation is underway.

Meantime, an official on the condition of anonymity didn't rule out the involvement of anti-government militants in the deadly attack and added that two persons have been arrested in this regard and are being interrogated. Enditem
