THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “How many Malayalis know how to write all the 52 Malayalam alphabets right? “ questions short film director Hari P Nair in his latest work - Ka Cha Ta Tha Pa.

The two-minute 22 seconds short film which was released on social media on November 1 has already generated a lot of buzz. The work is a dedication to  Kerala’s 60 year of formation and the Malayalam language as a whole.

Hari, who runs Hari Sree Creations Production House, says he decided to release the short film on the Kerala Piravi day to signify the importance  of mother tongue.

The story centres around the interaction between a teacher and her student  in an exam hall. However, the roles of the teacher and the student have been  reversed where the 10-year-old Akshara plays a serious teacher while  40-year-old Dharmajan plays the student.

The student is shown repeating mistakes while the teacher continues to  correct him. Towards the end of the film, viewers realise that Dharmajan   was struggling with Malayalam alphabets.

Though sarcastic, the also movie serves as a reminder to the public. The  film has been produced by the makers of ‘Punchirikku Parasparam’, a short film which went viral last year.  Actor Ramesh Pisharody has produced the short film which also stars  Kavya Madhavan in a lead role. Gautham Rinil has composed the music.
The movie was released by actor Fahad Fazil.
