Islamabad-Renowned artist Muhammad Azeem Iqbal is among those artists who introduced new techniques of art by using leather, wood, handmade paper, stones, copper and other traditional items.
During inaugural ceremony of Hafez Shirazi Corner at National Book Foundation (NBF), he while talking to APP said that nowadays people like innovations in art, adding that he is making efforts to introduce new ideas and innovative artwork.
He said that under NBF scheme Literary Corner introduced at NBF to attract book readers, adding that due to successes of the first phase of the scheme, more literary corners are in pipeline in the premises of NBF.
“We can change the perception the world has towards Pakistan through arts and culture,” he said.
Azeem Iqbal said that a beautiful cultural and literary corner of Hafez Shirazi was completed at NBF which was supported by Iran Embassy in Islamabad.
He said that hopefully the visitors and researchers would like this corner and enjoy reading of books of Hafez Shirazi.
He also said that Azadi Train cultural float was also his creative art work which was liked by people across the country. The self-taught artist gets his inspiration from nature with the ideology that art is a field of love and devotion.
Meanwhile, National Book Park established at head office of National Book Foundation (NBF) is attracting number of people particularly book readers here yesterday. The Book Park was established in order to provide healthy and peaceful atmosphere to the visitors and book readers in federal capital.
The visitors of Book Park praised the Foundation’s efforts in promoting reading culture in the country through various projects. They said that the Book Park is a unique project conceived by the management of the NBF that will serve to bring people closer to books.
An official of NBF Asghar Abid told APP that importance of books has not been and can never be denied, rather with the passage of every day there is a steady rise in the number of readers. The NBF’s book park, he said provides ideal opportunity to visitors to sit and read something as once it used to be and everyone had time to relax and read. He said the Book Park was setup in the memory of great poets, writers and philosophers of the country.
