Heritage fair vital for showcasing skills, art - official

KUWAIT, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- A number of participants in Expo 965 stressed the importance of the heritage and handicraft exhibition which represents a vital step to showcase participants' skills, craft, and their traditional heritages.
They expressed keenness to participate constantly in various exhibitions for that purpose.
Participants made the remarks in separate statements to KUNA on the sideline of an exhibition organized by Expo 965 team at Ahmad Al-Adwani hall under the sponsorship of Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah.
Creator and General Coordinator for the team Researcher Ali Kamal said that this exhibition have 70 participant members for the team (Expo 965), which includes nearly 100 iconic Kuwaiti creative innovators of private museums and researchers in Kuwaiti heritage, bird hunting tools, and old equipment used in Kuwaiti games.
Kamal added that the team includes amateur stamps collectors, coin collectors, antiques, and old Kuwaiti documents and collections from sea and desert, in addition to medals, decorations and badges.
The coordinator pointed out that a distinguished group of Kuwaiti craftsmen are participating in this exhibition, including old ships manufacturing, and commemorative sculptures and drawings, artists, calligraphers and sculptors on wood, stone and metal composition of art painting on water art and arabesque art.
Kamal added the exhibition contains a number of Islamic art from old copies of the holy book of Quran, including Islamic metals and currencies and other holdings.
For his part, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Information Assistant to information services and new media Yosif Mustapha, who is one of the honorees by the team, said in a statement to KUNA that the ministry ensured to provide its capabilities in support of Kuwaiti youth.
Mustapha called for those who owns similar heritage entities to take the initiative and contact the ministry due to its open policy in this regard. (end) shd.mb
