Both special editions only add cosmetic upgrades

Add a couple more to the tally of festive season special editions. Fiat India has showcased limited editions of their bread and butter models – the Punto Evo and the Linea. Called 'Karbon' and 'Royale' respectively, the two Fiats get a little extra over the stock fare.

For starters, both cars get a pearl white paint job with a gloss black roof. The Linea Royale additionally gets its 15-inch alloy wheels finished in black as well. And, what's a special edition without stickers? Right? The hatchback gets a set of racing stripes that runs along the shoulder line of the car, ending near the C-Pillar under the 'Karbon' stickering. The Linea, on the other hand, keeps it simple, with a set of 'Royale' (with a crown, no less) badges.

The most significant changes are on the inside. Both get an all-new interior theme that does set it apart from their run-of-the-mill avatars. The Punto Evo gets an all-black dashboard and black upholstery to go with it. On the other hand, the Linea gets a tan treatment, with tan-coloured dash, doorpads and seats. Other than the new colour scheme, everything else remains identical to a bog standard car. It will continue to feature the new 5-inch touchscreen that Fiat introduced recently, along with goodies such as automatic climate control, tilt-adjust steering and height adjustable seat.

On the engines front, the Punto Evo Karbon will feature the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel, that pumps out 93PS of power. The Linea Royale will be available in the top-spec 125S avatar that houses a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 125PS. Head here to know what it's like to drive.

While prices haven't been formally announced, we expect the special editions to cost around Rs 30,000-40,000 over the standard cars. The top-spec Punto Evo retails for Rs 7.92 lakh, whereas the standard Linea 125S will set you back by Rs 10.76 lakh, (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
