    Investors betting on recovery in the domestic economy have made hefty returns in stocks in the past one year, particularly in the months after the Union Budget.

    Mid and smallcap stocks have outperformed benchmark indices in Samvat 2072 ending Saturday. Investors betting on recovery in the domestic economy have made hefty returns in these stocks in the past one year, particularly in the months after the Union Budget.

    In Samvat 2072, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap Indices gained 24% and 20%, respectively, higher than 8% gain in the S&P BSE Sensex during the same period. However, within these spaces too there have been outliers, mostly belonging to the financial, fertiliser and the oil and gas space.
