Portrait artist among 2 held for Rs 1 crore robbery in Delhi

DCP (central District) M S Randhawa said they arrested Abdul Hasnain (39), a parantha seller, and his associate Madan Lal (45), a portrait artist, during a raid at Jama Masjid area on Saturday night.

Delhi Police Monday claimed to have solved a case of burglary of over Rs 1 crore from a garment exporter’s office in central Delhi’s Jama Masjid area after the arrest of two persons, including a portrait artist. Police have recovered Rs 96.80 lakh in cash from them.

Lal has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Jamia Millia Islamia and claims to have received an award from the President for his artwork. The DCP said, “In order to earn quick money, he decided to commit burglary. The incident came to light on October 20 when Kunal Bansal, a garments export dealer, complained to police about a burglary at his office at Chandi Wala Phatak near Jama Masjid.”

With the help of CCTV footage, the special staff of Central District identified the accused and arrested them.
