In-laws booked for attempt to kill widow

Aurangabad: The MIDC Cidco police on Sunday booked six persons, including three women, for allegedly trying to kill a 27-year-old widow.
According to police, the woman had approached them on Friday, accusing her in-laws and their relatives of trying to to kill her. The woman has still been staying with the parents of her husband, who died recently.
Her in-laws were unhappy with her staying in the same house and wanted her to leave, she said.
As she refused citing her husband's claim in the family property, they allegedly started torturing the woman to avoid any claims to her.
When she raked up the issue again on Friday, two of her relatives, at the alleged instance of her father-in-law, tried to strangulate her. She somehow managed to free herself from their clutches and ran out of the house straight the police station. Police have registered an offence against six of them under various sections of the IPC, including attempt to murder and threatening her with dire consequences. The investigation officer said, " We are looking into the matter. The girl has been severly assaulted both mentally and physically.
