6 die in Poonch road accidents

JAMMU, Oct 29: Five persons were killed when a Maruti car  rolled down into deep gorge near Peer Gali on Mughal Road while a youth was killed when his tractor trolley fell down into a gorge near Surankote in district Poonch today.
Reports said that during early morning, a  Maruti car bearing  registration No. JK-18/ 2571, which was on way to   Rajouri from  Kulgam (Kashmir), rolled down into nearly 300 feet deep gorge at Mansar Morh, hardly 3 kms short of Peer Gali towards Bafliaz (Poonch) on Mughal Road. All the five persons onboard the vehicle,  were killed on the spot.
The driver of the car hailing from Aligarh in Utter Pradesh, was badly trapped in the wreckage of the car and was dragged out after two motor mechanics were brought by police from Bafliaz  and they used cutters and other tools by putting tough efforts to accomplish the task.
SDPO Surankote,  Riaz Tantary told  that most of these persons were fruit growers  and traders. Actually they dispatched a truck of fruits/ apples to UP  via Mughal Road yesterday from  Kulgam. It went out of order near Rajouri. These  traders and growers started their journey from Kulgam at 5 am in the morning  today and  as they reached near Mansar Morh,  about 39 kms from Bafliaz side, the vehicle rolled down into a deep gorge, killing all the occupants on the spot.
The police said that all the deceased persons have been identified. They are Muzammal Mohiuddin (20), son of Ghulam Mohiuddin from Shopian; Bashir Ahmed (55), son of  Abdul Rehman, resident of Kulgam; Sajid Ahmed Mir (30), son of   Mohd Yunis Mir from Kulgam (Kashmir); Danish Ahmed, son of  Mohiuddin  from Sultanpur in Aligarh district of UP and driver Gaurav, son of Shiv Kumar, also hailing from Aligarh.
Tantray said that earlier the police parties from Behramgalla reached the spot. The dead bodies of the four deceased  persons were removed  to the road. Since the body of the driver had badly trapped between the steering and seat besides the roof top of the vehicle , it took about two hours to the mechanics to remove the body from the wreckage by using cutters and other tools. He said the dead bodies after postmortem were handed over to their families from Kashmir and the family members of those from Aligarh were also intimated.
Meanwhile, a driver was killed when his  tractor trolley  rolled down into a gorge near Faislabad in Surankote this evening. Police said the mishap took place at around 5 pm when young driver, Aqib Hussain, son of  Zamurat Hussain, resident of  Faisalabad village near Surankote was going home. The speeding tractor trolley  went out of control on the narrow road and it rolled down into a gorge. The driver was killed on the sport due to severe head injuries.
The police rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to Surankote hospital and later handed over to the family after postmortem and performing other legal formalities.  The police has registered a case in this connection.
