Mick Schumacher misses out on second title in Italian F4

Mick Schumacher has missed out on winning the Italian Formula 4 championship at the Monza season finale, 29 days after being beaten to the German Formula 4 title.

The son of seven-time Formula One world champion Michael headed into the weekend trailing title rival Marcos Siebert by 25 points.

Schumacher won the opening race from third on the grid -- as Siebert recovered from 11th to finish second -- but suffered damage in race two while battling for the lead with pole-sitter Sebastian Fernandez and Prema Powerteam teammate Juri Vips.

The 17-year-old could only finish 27th after receiving a black-and-orange-flag for a broken nosecone and subsequently pitting for repairs. Fifth place handed Siebert the title after the Argentinian accumulated an unassailable championship lead with one race to spare.

Schumacher also lost out on the German F4 crown earlier this month to Australian Joey Mawson, having failed to overturn 39-point deficit in the final round at Hockenheim.
