Sidda's condition deteriorates
BENGALURU: The condition of wild elephant Sidda at the Manchanabele dam is deteriorating rapidly. He has been lying down for over 100 hours and making him stand, even with a crane, is proving to be extremely difficult. His food intake has come down drastically and his chances of survival are very less.
The forest department is nevertheless working round the clock to make sure he is comfortable and has posted a few doctors there.

Dr Arun A Sha, director, research & veterinary operations, said, "Sidda is still lying down and hasn't been eating or drinking. That he is not on his feet is a bad sign."
Dilip Kumar, chief conservator of forests, said, "A decision will be taken on what needs to be done. Till then, we're treating him with medicines and intravenous fluids. A lot of care is being taken and shade is being provided as he is lying outside. There's no way we can put him in a kraal. His condition is very grave."
