Lucknow: The special task force on Friday arrested two people from
Para area of Lucknow while working on an illegal bullet trading case of last year. One of the arrested men worked as delivery agent for a prominent courier company.
On August 10, a gun house located on
Meston road, Kanpur, found that the packet which was supposed to contain about 2,000 bullets of 315 bore rifles, was packed with stones and pebbles instead.
The consignment was bought from Popular Gun House that is located in Qaiserbagh.
"As 40 people were involved in this end-to-end process of sending the boxes of bullets from Lucknow to Kanpur, we had to tread with caution," said STF SSP Amit Pathak.
Police found that
Hardoi resident Devmani Shukla used to ferry the consignment from Lucknow to neighbouring districts. Shukla had been working at the courier agency for the past six years. However, on probing his credentials, STF sleuths found that he was well-acquainted with Hardoi criminal Dheeraj
Tiwari.
Men in plainclothes followed Shukla on Friday and nabbed him and Tiwari in Para area. The two were digging the ground to unearth bullets hidden there. Of the missing 2,000 bullets, 1,853 were recovered.
