Puducherry: Opposition AIADMK questions delay in formation of House panels

The Narayanasamy-led ministry was formed some five months ago and yet no committee had been formed so far.

The opposition AIADMK on Friday questioned the delay in setting up various House committees by the Puducherry government. AIADMK Legislature wing leader, A Anbalagan told reporters that while the Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu assembly, M K Stalin had raised the issue of Assembly Committees, one is left wondering why the Congress government, enjoying DMK support, was keeping mum. He stated that the Estimates Committee, Public Accounts, Assurances and other committees were still a distant dream in Puducherry.

The Narayanasamy-led ministry was formed some five months ago and yet no committee had been formed so far. The DMK which is making allegations in neighbouring Tamil Nadu should pull out of the alliance forged with the Congress in Puducherry, where no Assembly panels had been
formed so far, he said. Alleging that there were rampant violations of model code of conduct by the ruling Congress in Nellithope Assembly constituency going to by-poll on November 19, the AIADMK leader said the Election Commission should bring under its direct supervision the process of election.

“We will prove the distribution of cash and other freebies by Congress if a probe is conducted,” he said.
