MUMBAI: The Bombay
high court on Thursday asked the
Sangli Miraj municipal corporation to pay
compensation to the parents of a five-year-old who died from injuries sustained after a stray dog bit him in 2013.
A division bench, headed by Chief Justice Manjula Chellur, warned the corporation that it would not hesitate to pass orders in the matter. The court was hearing a petition filed by the deceased child’s parents Maruti and Dhanamma Holay seeking Rs 20 lakh as compensation.
The court has asked the corporation to clarify its stand on the next date of hearing of the case scheduled for November 2016.
