Bathinda-based government schoolteacher Johny Singla was issued a show-cause notice by the Education Department for allegedly using foul language against senior officials during a Sangat Darshan that he says he didn’t attend.

A computer teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Sekhu (Bathinda), Singla was issued the notice by state Director General School Education (DGSE) Pardeep Aggarwal on October 20 for allegedly using objectionable language during a grievance aired by him at a Sangat Darshan and in an email sent to the department.

In his reply on October 22, he shot back saying he never attended any Sangat Darshan and doesn’t even have any time for this “undemocratic, political activity” of the CM. Besides, he also sought evidence against him from the department, while asking for details of the said Sangat Darshan and statements that he was being questioned for.

Singla alleged he was being targeted for questioning Education Department’s policies in mails sent to the DGSE on October 1. He had written to the DGSE and DEO (SE) office, Bathinda, seeking clarification for the alleged partial behaviour with computer teachers on issues including their police verification before joining the job.

On September 28, he had written to the DGSE, Punjab, seeking his intervention over the denial of information to him by the Education Department regarding the number of teachers and projects forwarded for the National Award for the ICT in Education-2016 by Punjab to the Centre.

He had also marked copies of both the mails to the PMO and the HRD Ministry at the Centre.

Bathinda DEO Amarjeet Kaur, said, “The show-cause notice issued to the teacher did not go from my office. It was issued directly by the DGSE office and only through me. I am not aware of the reasons of the notice or the Sangat Darshan in which the foul language was spoken. The correspondence is directly with the DGSE office.”
