BADIALA (BATHINDA): A number of people from across the state today paid rich tributes to founder of Punjabi Suba Sant Fateh Singh on his 105th birth anniversary at a state-level function organised at Badiala village where PWD Minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon was the chief guest.

A number of people from across the state today paid rich tributes to founder of Punjabi Suba Sant Fateh Singh on his 105th birth anniversary at a state-level function organised at Badiala village where PWD Minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon was the chief guest.

Agriculture Minister Tota Singh, Rajya Sabha member Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Bholath MLA Bibi Jagir Kaur and Bathinda Rural MLA Darshan Singh Kotfatta paid tributes to Fateh Singh on the premises of Gurdwara Tap Asthan Sant Fateh Singh.

Recalling the founder of modern-day Punjab for his unprecedented contribution towards formation of the state, Tota Singh said, “We should take a pledge to retain Punjab as a welfare and progressive state as envisioned by Sant Fateh Singh.”

Sekhon said the contribution and struggle made by Sant Fateh Singh for the formation of Punjabi Suba could not be overlooked.

“The Punjab Government is committed to holistic development in all fields. The Congress and AAP are trying to befool people of Punjab by misleading and false propaganda, but they will never succeed in their designs,” he added.

Sant Fateh Singh had also contributed to the field of education. As many as 132 primary, 59 middle and 33 high schools, Guru Nanak Khalsa College and Law College in Sriganganagar has been imparting quality education, courtesy initiatives taken by Sant.

Sekhon said Maur constituency had witnessed unprecedented development first time after independence at a cost of Rs 450 crore.

“Political opponents are all out to mislead Punjabis through a false propaganda just for their political motives and Punjabis should beware of such gimmicks,” he added.

The Bholath MLA said Sant had struggled and fought for the interests and rights of Punjab and Punjabis. She added that the Congress and AAP would have to face the wrath of voters in the ensuing elections for their anti-Punjab stance.
