Finance Minister Eatala Rajender today emphasized the need for removing differences among castes in the society.
He was participating at a program wherein noted social activist and author B S Ramulu took over as chairman of Backward Classes Commission, Juluru Gauri Shankar, Anjaneyulu Goud and Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan as members. Besudes Rajender, Minister Jogu Ramanna, MP Suman and MLA Kishore Babu, who were present, congratulated the new commission. Rajender expressed concern that “despite seven decades of freedom, our nation still faces caste discrimination, gender bias, atrocities and abuse and many maladies. There is an urgent need to address the caste-related issues and wipe out the differences”, he said.
Rajendar said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has constituted a BC Commission which should strive to reach the goal of transforming the State into Bangaru Telangana. The Commission has to conduct an in-depth study on BC issues and the government was ready to address the same, he said, adding.there are no proper accounts on BC population as the previous governments and parties treated the BCs as mere vote bank, he charged.
The State government launched residential schools for BCs and several welfare schemes besides implementing Kalyan Lakshmi for girls. Promising to give all support to the BC Commission, Rajender asked it to submit a report to the government to do justice to all sections of the BCs.
Jogu Ramanna also expressed hope that the new BC Commission will focus on BCs’ issues. The Government was committed to the welfare of the BCs with adequate funds, he added. The BC Commission will strive hard to ascertain the problems and submit a report to the government, the chairman said. Ramulu also said the commission will try to do justice to all sections through government assistance. (NSS)
