Here's a fun World Series off day story.

Charles Turner, an Indians fan and student at Ohio University, skipped class on Tuesday to attend Game 1 of the World Series. Turner's geological sciences professor, one R. Damian Nance, caught him in the act, noticing he was supposedly present, yet did not partake in the attendance roll call.

Rather than lie and dig the hole deeper, Turner fessed up to Nance. Presumably to everyone's surprise, Nance wasn't mad -- rather he was seemingly a teeny bit proud (h/t FTW):

Nance's university biography is impressive, as he has authored articles in more than 30 publications -- including some with titles like "Neoproterozoic-early Paleozoic paleogeography of the peri-Gondwanan terranes."

In other words, if Nance says you're excused, then you're excused.
