Renault India Likely To Launch Kaptur SUV Within 1 Year
The new SUV is codenamed as ‘HHA’ and like its sibling, the Kaptur will also have 2WD and 4WD options.
Renault
India
will
launch
its
SUV
Kaptur
within
12
months
from
now.
There
were
some
rumours
suggesting
that
the
model
will
be
a
three-row
7-seat
SUV,
but
according
to
the
reports
of
Indian
Autos
Blog;
it
will
remain
a
5-seat
SUV.
A person close to the company said, "The Kaptur will be a 5-seat offering. However, the positioning will be above the Renault Duster.
"We will offer customers the option of a more premium alternative to the Duster, and in future, we will reduce Duster prices by a bit."
Powering the Kaptur SUV will be a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine - the same unit used in Renault Duster. The powerplant will develop 110bhp of power and 245Nm of torque.
The diesel motor will be mated to either 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. Also, we expect Renault to use its EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) gearbox instead of opting low-cost automated manual transmission(AMT).
The vehicle is codenamed as ‘HHA' and like its sibling, the Kaptur will also have 2WD and 4WD options.
The exterior visual characteristics will resemble the European-spec Renault Captur. But the Indian model is based on the same BO platform as the Duster.
The top-end Duster model costs about Rs 14.8 lakhs, ex-showroom (Mumbai). When the Kaptur is launched, Renault will slightly reduce the prices of the Duster variants. The Kaptur SUV is likely to be priced at around Rs 16 lakhs, ex-showroom.
