Dr Luke has denied new claims he abused Kesha and says he was not responsible for her "starving" herself.

The producer and his legal team were responding to allegations made by the singer in an article for the New York Times.

In the interview, Kesha suggests she was "under immense pressure to starve myself" when she worked with Dr Luke.

"I tried to and almost killed myself in the process."

A legal battle has been going on between Dr Luke and Kesha since November 2014.

She asked to be released from her contract with Sony and Dr Luke's label Kemosabe Records, claiming he sexually and psychologically abused her.

He has always denied the allegations.

In the New York Times interview, the singer suggests the producer created and pushed the image of a party girl and made her change some of the lyrics in her songs.

Speaking about Tik Tok, she claims: "I remember specifically him saying, 'Make it more dumb, make it more stupid, make it more simple - just dumb.'"

Dr Luke has denied that, too.

He says he never manipulated the singer's image, changed lyrics or pressured her over which songs to put on her albums.

A joint statement from Dr Luke and his legal team says: "The New York Times Magazine profile piece that ran today unfortunately has many inaccuracies.

"This article is part of a continuing coordinated press campaign by Kesha to mislead the public, mischaracterise what has transpired over the last two years, and gain unwarranted sympathy."

The statement also suggests Kesha is "continuing to maliciously level false accusations in the press to attack our client" and claims she didn't give the label any new music so has "exiled herself" by not fulfilling her contract.

Dr Luke's statement also implies 22 new songs which the singer says she has written were submitted "without any label consultation".

It insists it is in their best interest to put out a successful album and claims a list of producers has been mutually agreed for the project, with studio time booked and a budget approved.
